This Month At-A-Glance style planner meets my high level scheduling needs.
There is a two page yearly summary section (with very small dates, but holidays indicated), a two page per month section (with 2 inch squares per day), a two page coming year section, a page with the current and following 2 years (dates only, no comment spaces), a time zone and phone area code map for the USA, and six pages for phone numbers.
This calendar is the same in quality, materials, and construction as the branded one but at less than half the price. Walmart seems to usually stock them in mid-November (sometimes on an end display).
There are several similar formats, I like this one which is approximately 9.5 x 11.5 inches (external dimensions). The reason I like this size is that you can use it as a cover for writing pads or filing folders if you take it to meetings. I also like this format because it stores nicely in a hanging folder for archiving with my tax return for each year.
A reminder: Always write something like 'If found please call ... ' in large letters on the first page of your planner. It might save you a lot of heart ache if you leave it someplace.
Update On Jan 14, 2010: Unfortunately, I was not able to find the same calendar for 2010. I found a Mead Monthly Planner (not branded At-a-Glance) of similar size at KMart for $8.99. This is still about half the price of a similar calendar at Staples or Office Depot.
