My husband knew a family friend who is a collector of different signature paintings of various Filipino painters. Some are famous and some are not. We learned from that friend that he is also selling those after buying it on various galleries and art shows. So hubby and I contacted another friend whose wife is living abroad and selling there different products from the Philippines including paintings. This Mother & Child oil painting is quite big and it formed part of our commission after selling several paintings aside from the cash portion. I love this painting so much and it always reminded me of the times I used to send my babies to sleep. It reflects the simple life of a mother and child especially in the provincial or remote areas where mothers still use a typical cradle for their babies. I don't paint and never been a painting enthusiast but when it handed to us I started to appreciate how a painting can tell a story especially this one maybe because I am a mother. The paintings are very detailed from the objects, the overall look and the little ones. Imagine the lines and shadings used to achieve that cradle look. Awesome!!! Prices of paintings not only depend on the size but moreover on the artist. This one may range from $200-$350 without the frame.
I placed it on the wall inside my kids' room. This painting came in frame already and it was really awesome. When my kids saw it they raised questions about the times when they were still babies.
