Mr. Deeds is a rags to riches tale starring Adam Sandler as the title character. This is a remake of an older film called Mr. Deeds goes to Town, and tells the tale of a small town man who aims to be a greeting card writer for Hallmark who suddenly inherits a fortune from a distant and unknown relative. He is instantly whisked off to the big city to tend to his fortune and the fate of a company, and has some trouble coming to grips with his new life. Wynona Ryder stars as his love interest, and there are other characters seen who often appear along Sandler in other movies.
This is a sweet and funny movie about life and love. It often has exagerrated circumstances, but since it doesn't pretend to tell the story of an average person, I find that to be acceptable. John Mackinroe makes an appearance and adds to the humor. There is some real slapstick comedy involved, and the butler adds another layer of comedic timing to the film when he appears out of nowhere. All in all, this is a great movie and safe for the entire family.
