I thought I was doing pretty well sidestepping a cold so far this season considering my entire family has been sick since the end of October.

Well, Thanksgiving day I came down with a sore throat which quickly moved to a stuffy head and not being able to breathe whatsoever. After trying some over the counter sinus pills it just wasn't getting any better. I was getting no sleep, cranky, headache, chills, just feeling miserable.

I called the pharmacist at Wallgreens and asked him what his recommendation would be for the behind the counter drugs you had to sign your life away for. I told him my symptons and he recommended MusinexD to clear my nasal/sinus congestion and it would also thin & loosen the mucus.

The box came with 18 securely wrapped pills made up of 600 mg guaifenesin and 60 mg pseudoephedrine HCI extended-release bi-layer tablet. The bi-layer purpose was to give an immediate release layer along with an extended release layer which would last for a period of 12 hours.

I have to say that upon taking this cold medication I felt like I could breathe so much better almost right away and within a short time I had no stuffiness or head pain. Sleeping through the night again was wonderful and I only had to take one pill in the morning and one shortly before I went to bed. After 3-4 days on MusinexD I feel 100% better.

I would recommend this for that stuffy/sinus/headache cold when you need relief immediately. Musinex also makes a product for chest congestion which thins and loosens mucus for 12 hours and then there is MusinexDM which controls cough. I will be prepared from now on with the Mucinex line of cold defense and hope it works as well for everyone like it did for me.
