Scotts PatchMaster is a mixture of much, seed and fertilizer that will repair bare spots in a lawn. A five-pound bag should cover 100 square feet or equal to a 10 foot by 10 foot area. The grass seed is a premium mixture that blends with the existing lawn. The mulch is biodegradable recycled paper that retains moisture while preventing ground erosion. The fertilizer is a blend formulated for new grass.
Loosen the soil prior to spreading Scotts PatchMaster. Do not spread it out more than one half-inch thick. The grass seed needs to interact with soil to take root and thrive. Give it a thorough watering when spread and water twice daily until the entire bare spot has grass. Watering is very important for this product to work properly otherwise the bare spot will not completely fill in.
I used this product to cover a bare spot in my lawn that was created when I fixed a low spot. I filled in the low spot with top soil, twelve bags if my memory serves me so I had a large bare spot to deal with. I then spread out the product as recommended, wearing gloves. I used a tall fescue mix to blend with my existing lawn. I began to see new grass in about a week. I now have a nice, smooth spot with filled in grass. No more going into a dip when I mow the lawn.
