I must admit that author Selma Eichler can really come up with some sinister murders, and she certainly has in Murder Can Ruin Your Looks.
Private Investigator Desiree Shapiro is hired by an old friend, Peter Winters, to look into a double shooting of twin sisters, one dead and the other lying in a coma in the hospital. Both girls were shot in the face, and it is impossible to tell the identity of either girl. Peter's fiancee was one of the girls, and he wants Desiree to discover the identity of the surviving twin. Of course, Desiree is not going to be satisfied with just identifying the survivor. She must delve deeper to see if she can find the killer.
This was a very interesting novel, as all of Selma Eichler's Desiree Shapiro Mysteries have been for me so far. I enjoy the heroine, Desiree, very much, as well as the other characters that the author inserts into her novels, regulars and newcomers alilke. I found this to be an entertaining mystery about a very gruesome incident. I am glad it was only fiction.
