I've had a rough couple weeks and my lower back and hips have been very much in pain since about Monday last week. I rode my horse today and had a tough time with her-this left my hips and back (especially hips) just ACHING!! I got home today and couldn't find the capsacin rub I use for really harsh pain, but I did find this product that I bought a while back and figured I'd give it a try. I rubbed in a fairly large amount about 5 hours ago and the pain started to subside almost immediately! It did take about 15 minutes to really feel a big difference, but I'm still feeling much better than I was! Not bad for a cheap brand ;) The pain I have is muscular in the back and from some kind of tendon pull or other old injury that was never really properly diagnosed and it's worked fairly well on both types of injuries. Not perfect, but much better than it was.

The 4 ounce tube states that it is non-greasy-I agree to a point, but it does leave kind of a "filmy" feel behind that I can still feel now 5 hours after application. It claims it is for muscle, joint pain, backace, and minor arthritis-I agree since it has worked on both my types of pain causing injuries. The ingredients include Camphor 4%, Menthol 10%, and Methyl Salicylate 30%-this leaves kind of a menthol scent behind-I still notice it now, so I wouldn't use this right before a big date ;) It is to be used externally and topically, you aren;t supposed to use it without consulting a doctor if you are breastfeeding. Also, if you are allergic to aspirin or salicylates, you shouldn't use this product.

Overall, I think I kind of like this more than the capsacin rub-it's not as harsh on the skin, but it still does a relatively ok job. I will certainly be using this stuff more often now!

Update On Mar 18, 2009: I don't know why this stuff works, but it really does! Same thing as before-pretty bad back pain even with a little shooting down the legs so I know a nerve is involved somewhere. I used this stuff again and although the pain isn't TOTALLY gone, it's very much better and I'm able to work and do daily activities! One note, though-I tried the CVS version of this too, and although it's still helpful, it's not as good as the KMart brand-go figure!!
