I received a gorgeous, handcrafted music-jewelry box from a good friend for Christmas after I lost my Mom. It is made of a rich ingrained wood with an intricately carved pattern around the edges of the lid. In the centre of the shadow box top is a glass covered hand-painted picture. It is of one of my favourite places, the seashore with rolling waves lapping against the raised shoreline of white sand with high grasses and seagulls sitting on white wooden posts which separate the water from a lush flower garden of pink peonies. A flower I have always loved. A phrase written in the beautiful calligraphy styling rides on the clouds. "Each day is a new beginning." When I open the box it is covered in black velvet and plays What A Wonderful World.
An exquisitely crafted gift meant to help get me through those dark days.
