So this review doesn't turn into a summary, I will just explore the various aspects of the book as a whole. My Antonia is, as the back cover states, a love story, a life of an immigrant, and a growing up story. To be honest, the story of this book is bland, as it simply illustrates life on a prairie. However, the writing style is such that the simplest surprises are engrossing. Since Willa Cather explores a variety of well-portrayed characters, it does not matter that the surroundings and lifestyles are American. Practically any person can relate to at least one character. As far as the readability goes, it is a surprisingly easy read. The plot is simple and the setting is relaxing.
I would recommend this book to someone who isn't looking for a thriller, action-packed novel, but rather an easy read. This book is excellent for those just starting to read coming of age stories. Unlike some other coming of age books, this one keeps the reader interested, never lingering on a topic for too long.
Hopefully this review gave you enough information about the book in the least spoiler-studded way possible.
