My Big Fat Greek Wedding is probably on of the funniest comedies out there. After three times that I had already seen it, last night I saw it again. As a Greek living abroad I have to say it is very accurate...Unfortunately we are like them when we live abroad (well, not all of us, but many)
The movie is about a Greek original family, that makes noise all day and has a lot of members living together. The father suppose to be the head of the family and everyone has to take his opinion about anything. The most important thing is that nobody is allowed to get married with "a kseno" (someone who is not from Greece). In this movie, Toula, is the daughter of the Portokalos family. She is not girl any more. She is 30 years old but she is not allowed to dating Ian, a nice American guy, because this way she is broking the rule. Ian loves Toula and he is really understanding with her family, so he is trying to help her doing everything needed to be accepted from the Greek family. He decided to baptize Greek orthodox and understand the Greek culture.
The movie is very funny, with smart and accurate dialogs that I loved, and I believe you will like also. I still laugh with the scenes where the father is trying to convince everyone that every word is coming from the Greek language. Very funny.
I am sure you will enjoy this movie
