I work freelance and don't have a lot of documents about my income. But I can pay for what I credit to my card, I just can't prove it.

When I was getting frustrated at being turned down by card companies, HSBC made an offer. I was at the right place at the right time. The sign up offer at that time was a P1, 500 ($35) gift cheque for a shoe store.

Ever since I had been using it, I am so happy with it. I have opted for the internet billing, and so I get my statements on time. They have gone the extra mile for security by sending me a gadget that generates a series of numbers. I could not access my account if I don't have that gadget.

Their phone banking service is also impeccable--very fast response for inquiries and problems.

Their annual rate is very small at P1, 200, roughly $30, and we can opt to have it waived. It is subject for approval, but hey, the requirements are easy.

For my purchases, I get mileage for a local airlines. Sometimes, they also have referral programs and the referror gets some goodies.
