I used to pay $60.00 at a salon to get my hair colored, cut, and conditioned. But that was before I learned that I could color my own hair at home for less than $5.00. I was afraid for so long to try it, as my hair is a mixture of light brown with red highlights, and it was very difficult to find that color in a bottle. (Or so I thought.)

Revlon's ColorSilk hair color #51 Light Brown is perfect for my hair. It does not leave it brassy or dull, but just right. It is a gentle Ammonia-Free colorant. It covers the gray nicely and provides a very even look, while still managing to capture some highlights here and there. The worst part about some hair color is the way it leaves the hair looking all one color, which does not give a natural look. This hair color leaves the hair strands with a little blond and red, which is very natural looking for me.

My favorite part is the after color conditioner. I wish they would sell it separately, because it is the best conditioner that I have ever used. It would be worth the price of the hair color kit just to get this great conditioner.

The kit comes with gloves, colorant, developer, instructions, and the conditioner. It is very easy to apply, and you save so much money by coloring at home. There really is a huge markup in salon prices. (Still, sometimes it's nice to be pampered, though sometimes it feels more like torture!)

I would recommend Revlon's ColorSilk to everyone. It just proves that things don't have to cost a fortune to be good.
