I have an unusual kitchen. It has a red vinyl floor, and a red sink. It was designed many years ago, and needs an update, but I still like the cheerful color a lot. Over the vinyl floor, I usually have a large rug. The last rug was black, with red roses around the border. It was very attractive, but died a horrible death at the hands (or should I say feet) of my full powered vacuum cleaner. The corners were chewed to pieces, and shredding horribly.
So it was definitely time to look for a new rug. I found just what I wanted at Old Time Pottery. It was a 5' by 7' multi-colored rug, made in Belgium. My kitchen is in a great room, surrounded by the dining room (decorated in blues), and the living room (decorated in burgundy and occasional touches of green.) This rug was an oriental motif with an emerald green center, a navy blue border, and floral touches here and there that also had red. So it was a perfect match to all the adjoining rooms.
It is stain resistant, color-fast, and fade resistant. It has a beautiful pile, and is easy to vacuum and spot clean. I can't believe that I got such a gorgeous rug for the money. I am very, very pleased with it. Old Time Pottery has a great selection of area rugs this size, so check them out.
