Overnight Prints is my new favorite for printing, and I wanted to share the good find. As a designer, I have clients that want their printed materials asap, but they don't want to pay the bloated prices offered at the local print shop. These online printing services are popping up all over with streamlined ordering processes and super quick turnaround, the trick is finding a good one.
For a long time I worked with Vista Print (whom I'll write a review about later) but when I found these guys, I never looked back. The printing quality is really top-notch! No mis-cuts, scratches, or saturation issues to speak of! Their prices are not the cheapest, but they are very competitive and the quality you get back is worth the few dollars over the Vista Print pricing.
It is very easy to shop their site- you can browse by product or by occasion and all of the pricing is up front and all inclusive ( except tax and shipping). Many other companies tack on "upload" fees or "digital proof fees" which really end up burning designers and supporting the amateur template users, which I can't understand because designers will spend a zillion times more money there for larger jobs and numerous clients!! Big business strategy black hole there (Vista Print)!
I like that the site works for both novice and designer interactivity. I can upload my files and check an online preview, download their templates to start a new project (so the folds or cuts are correct for their machines), check on my orders and track shipping for my customers. I can also go back in and upgrade the shipping if a client gets impatient. If you are novice, they offer high quality already created designs where you can just type in your info and it populates into the design for you. Hopefully, their templates won't get so good that they will put me out of a job!
One thing to watch for- drop shadows! For some reason this company cannot accurately reproduce drop shadows. They either come out like dark black fog or the whole design gets dark and dreary... I suggest scaling the drop shadows waaaaay back or eliminating them altogether. I imagine the same would be true for any transparency process... glows, filters, etc.
If you are looking for printing I would defiantly check them out- my new best friend in online printing!
