I got this Samsung Syncmaster 740N LCD monitor when my old 14" monitor conked out. After having that small screen for about 8 years, the 17" flat screen was a welcome relief.
Too bad though that I have calibrated the color several times and yet I couldn't seem to get the brightness right. It kinda makes me crazy because I keep adjusting colors for my layouts and designs and yet when they are printed, they look so much different than in the layout. And the variance in color is way different than my previous unit. I wonder why this is so.
Probably the LCD's color get directly affected in a room lit by sunlight as opposed to those in offices. Sometimes, during the day, the brightness/contrast of the monitor changes.
Anyway, it has been a year and it is still working and so I am still happy with it.
Update On Oct 03, 2009: It has been two years and a half since I started using this product. It still works very well. Colors are still sharp. Too bad I have to sell my desktop in order to buy a new laptop, so the LCD goes with it. It is really worth it for its price. I know there are more expensive brands, but my Samsung is really good.
