I travel alot with my family but we also try to make our outing some what educational. Our favorite place to take the kids is the National Zoo in Washington, DC. My children are little but the still love to see all the animals and attractions that the National Zoo has to offer. At the National Zoo in Washington, DC the kids can see all sorts of animals from the lovable panda bears to more exotic animals like the tropical birds and snakes. The National Zoo is set up so you visit sections or houses of the animals. The is the bird house and the Reptile house as well as other areas like the animals of Asia or Africa. Now here at the National Zoo the best part is that it is free to enter the Zoo. There is a fee for parking but we ride the Metro which has a stop right at the zoo. This is a great inexpensive outing for you to take with your kids. You can also check out the National Zoo's website for special attractions or events that they might be having. Some of the events are ticketed events like the up coming Trick or treating in the zoo. For the most part though the zoo is free during it's regular hours. Another great part about the zoo is that you can pack a lunch and eat in the park. They do have concession stands but they are a little expensive. So pack a lunch and head down to the National Zoo in Washington, DC.
