I have 2 sons who have ADD and ADHD. The medications that they have to take to control these conditions are actually stimulants so sometimes bedtime can be challenging for them and me.
My pediatrician recommended trying Melatonin which is the natural chemical that our brains create after going to bed in a dark room to help us go to sleep. In my son's cases, they don't like the dark and they don't like going to bed and they probably still have residuals of their medications in their systems which all work against them and me in my desire to get those boys to sleep at night.
It claims to "Help establish normal sleep patterns" and to "Alleviate occasional sleeplessness" and to be "100% Vegetarian" It contains 63 mg of Calcium along with the 5 mg of Melatonin so they are also getting a little extra calcium and at their ages and stages of development that is a good thing.
I give them each 2 of the 5 mg tablets right before tucking them in for the night and I really feel that it helps make our bedtime routine faster and easier than it would be without the supplements. And it is natural rather than chemical and non addictive which is a very, very good thing!
