Wow! This bottle already contained "20% MORE FREE" (the bottle normally sells with 100 softgels, but this one had 120 softgels), and they were Buy One, Get One so, for about $11.00, I got 240 of the little buggers. What a bargain! Anyway, each softgel contains 1200 mg. of calcium and 1, 000 IU of Vitamin D (vitamin D aids in the absorption of calcium). The softgels are easy to swallow (they really don't taste like anything, they are not chewable), and they do not contain sodium, flavor, artificial color, or preservatives. The other ingredients listed are: soybean oil, gelatin, vegetable glycerin, soy lecithin, and titanium dioxide color. According to the directions, two softgels should be taken with meals each day. I'm concerned that my body is not producing enough vitamin D as I moved from a place where the UV index is very high almost 365 days of the year to a place where I hardly ever see the sun at all. And when the sun does make a brief appearance, I am covered up to stay warm. (Most doctors recommend 10-15 minutes of unprotected sun exposure to your arms and face most days of the week to get enough vitamin D). Having stooped over posture and obtaining hip fractures doesn't sound like much fun to me, so I want to make sure I'm getting enough calcium and vitamin D.
