Last year our car was stolen and upon contacting my insurance company they arranged a car for pick up from Discount Car and Truck Rentals. I was to receive a call from Discount Car and Truck Rentals to arrange an appointment time to pick up the rental car until my car was recovered. I did receive the call but the person who called me was not there when I returned the call. I wait for that person to return my call the day!
I finally was able to make an appointment to go pick up the car. I was assured by my insurance company that I would recieve a car of similar value or same make as the car that was stolen. This was not the case. What I received was a Chrysler 300, no where in the same league as my BMW.
I did a walk through of the vehicle, it was at half a tank and I noticed that the engine light was on. I brought this to the attention of the rental clerk who advised me that nothing is wrong with the engine, just the sensor is broken. I was not comfortable with this as I did not want this car to break down with my baby in it and get stranded in the winter. I wanted to switch but there were no other cars available! I went inside and they asked for my credit card for any damages during the rental. I supplied the credit card, signed the forms and left.
Despite the engine light being on all the time the Chrysler 300 drove like a charm! It had all leather seating and kind of grew on me the month that I had it. Although, I kept hoping to get a call that they had found my BMW without any damage.
I was only to have the car for a month. I returned on the day it was due, even before the time I was supposed to! Two days later when I go to use my mastercard at the grocery store I get declined. I'm like what?! So I check my account online and I see the Discount has charged me over $800. I call my insurance and ask them if they've paid Discount and was told they had. She was going to call them to ask why they billed me and advised me to do the same. So, I called the number on the invoice I had. I got a general customer service number and was told by the CSR that they'd send a message to that location for me. I called again the following day was told by another CSR that the location was closing!?! Now I was livid. I was billed for a rental my insurance company had already paid for! The CSR could tell I was getting upset and told me that someone from accounting would call me.
I received a call from accounting the following day. They found the mistake and was issuing me a check. when the check arrived, there was a certificate inside for a free weekend rental - are they crazy!
