I have stayed at the Nevele Grand Resort, located in the Catskill Region of New York, two times. I have been less than impressed both times. My most recent trip was from November 4th - 6th, 2007. My experiences have both been conferences.
I arrived at the Nevele and proceeded to the guest desk. They had grouped us off by last name. The wait in the line was almost two hours. Given the fact that they host our conference every year and are aware of the numbers involved, this was simply unacceptable.
The resort itself is very outdated. It looks like it may have been a beautiful 30 or 40 years ago, but it is in a state of disrepair at present.
The staff, for the most part, is very pleasant. I can't think of any problems in that department. the room was clean, just very outdated.
The resort is located in a very beautiful part of New York, especially in the fall.
I was very upset when it came time to check out. I had to leave early (approximately 6:15 am). When I went to the front desk, there was a note that stated checkout could not be done until 8:00 am. I called the operator and explained that I needed to leave. She left a note for the manager and seemed very cautious about letting me go.
My advice is to find somewhere other than the Nevele. Unless they do some repairs, it won't be open much longer anyway!
