Pretzel M&M's

While watching Entertainment Tonight, I heard something that caught my attention. No, it was not the story about the American Idol tour but it was about one of the products that is sponsoring it, new M&M's Pretzel candies. My family loves M&M 's, pretzels and chocolate covered pretzels so I knew we had to try these. While I was out this afternoon, I picked up a bag of them at Kroger and we rushed home to give them a try.

M&M's Pretzel consists of a round pretzel piece that is covered in chocolate, and then wrapped in the famous candy coated shell. They are round but about the same general size as M&M's peanut candies and come in red, green, blue, orange and brown. The first one I tried was different from what I expected because the first crunch is into the candy coating and the next crunch is into the pretzel piece. Which, to me, felt a little strange. After eating the first one though, I was hooked on them. There is exactly the right amount of pretzel and chocolate in each bite. The pretzel has a nice salty taste to it so it goes very well with the chocolate and the candy coating keeps them all neatly together so "they melt in your mouth and not in your hands". The candy coating also gives it a little added sweetness as well.

According to the bag, a serving size is about 17 pieces. Each serving is 180 calories with 60 of them from fat. which to me is not all that bad for what you get. For those who, like me, often crave something both salty and sweet and are trying to not overdo it on the calorie count, these make a great snack to satisfy both cravings at once.

I was pleasantly surprised with how good these are and I will be getting more of them in the future. I would love to see them also come out with both a dark chocolate and white chocolate version of them as well; those would be yummy (hint, hint Mars company).
