This camera was a replacement for our previous digital camera that broke - it was cheaper to buy this than to replace the other one! We were all for it - smaller, lighter, and more megapixels. Well I wish we had chosen a different camera. Don't get me wrong - the pictures are excellent quality, it has a great zoom and digital zoom (of course you do get "digital noise" with the digital zoom, as to be expected), it has many different picture modes to get the optimal settings for your pictures. The videorecorder is nice and it takes fair quality videos. It's small, lightweight, and not a battery hog. The display is a nice size. It even has an easy to use self timer. So you might be thinking - "What's the problem? You sound like you love it." I do - EXCEPT - and this is a huge except, the reason I do not recommend this camera to anyone - it takes a long time to recharge after a flash! If you don't wait the full time your picture is either yellow or blurred, or you simply can't take the picture. I take a lot of indoor photos and this is very very frustrating, no matter if it's candid shots (long gone by the time the flash is ready again!) or posed (interest is gone in the time it takes to recharge).
So...if you are only taking outdoor pictures this is a great camera, the quality is excellent, the color is excellent. If you plan on using it indoors my advice is to look elsewhere.
