Printers that uses ink have been a pain in the ass for me! The ink doesn't last very long, maybe 10-20 pages and then you got to by more, more and more!! It really burns a hole in your pocket. Finally, Lady luck was on my side, Future Shop, was having a sale, and the Konica Minolta Laser Printer was on on sale for only 100 bucks, usually price I think was about 200 dollars, don't remember well enough. This was a deal of a lifetime! NO MORE INK CARTRIDGES!!! YIPEEE!!!! I bought it quickly of course.
They printer was abit strange for me, I had to put some sort of toner thing in it, took awhile to get it in, maybe 10 minutes. It was also very big, I had a little HP printer before it, and it took me sometime to put it somewhere that could fit it. Also when I turned it on my lights flickers on and off, I guess they call it 1350 for a reason! But since your only going to use for about 5-10 minutes a day, I doubt it will cause a dent in your bills.
Installation was harsh, probably the worse aspect of this printer, I had one problem that seems to happen everytime I install it, it seems to need some sort of .dll file, I think it was M5NF or something like that when I install it, took me awhile to find the file on my hard drive.
The printing speed were amazing! VERY FAST! Maybe 5 seconds, the paper gets sucks in the machine and voila it comes out right away. It gets loud when it does this, might annoy some people. I also had some trouble with the printer sucking the paper in, the first few months it was perfectly fine, but after it couldn't suck it well any more when there was alot of paper in the tray, very annoying.
The printer does not have colour, while this may be a downside for some, I usually use my printer just for documents, and this doesn't bother me at all. The black is very nice, very dark and clear, but right now it blacks aren't very black at all, when it prints now, the text is faded, you can barely see it.
The Konica Minolta 1350w, is a nice printer, but after what happen to its quality after extensive use, I don't recommend it anymore, maybe if I made this review in the week I got it I would've, but the problems I dealt with made me not recommend it to people. Of course, this was last year, newer models might have fixed the problems I have with mine.
