After a recent storm and extended power outage we sought to buy a weather radio. I wanted a battory backup and hand crank. This unit has even more to offer.
The NOAA radio lantern from Sams Club has the internal rechargeable battory, an AC adapter, the ability to charge off from a car battory and the hand crank. This also has the am, fm and weather radio dial. The nice thing about the unit is you can put on the weather radio, hit the mute button and it will be silent untill there is a warning issued by the national weather service. The down side is the radio warns for all warnings, not just your county.
The unit is bright yellow with an LED light and a Cf bulb. I had a heck of a time untill I figured out the CF bulb doesnt light if the unit is plugged into an outlet and charging. So if you leave the light on, plug the unit into the wall, in a power outage the CF bulb will light so you can find your way. Great feature, just doesnt tell you that in the book. I thought mine was broken!
We have used it to go camping, and as the weather radio in the house. We think it is great for the $38.
