We live about one hour from Ocean City MD, so it is easy for us to take several day trips here. It is a great place to visit for the day, I am not sure I could enjoy it for any longer than that though. The beach is wonderful and the really great part is that it is free. The boardwalk runs parellel to the beach and you can just walk right off the boardwalk and down onto the beach. I think that is one of the biggest pluses to this area.
As long as we go early in the day, we have never had a problem finding a place to park. They have a huge parking lot. We have figured out that if you go too late in the day, the lot is full and then you have a hard time finding a space along the roads. There are several local private places to park, but I think the cost of those are just too high to pay.
Their are hotels all up and down the main road, with most of them being beach side. I have never stayed in one so I can't speak about them, but there are a lot of them here.
Their are several eateries along the boardwalk, but I am a bit disappointed in the choices though. Since this is a seaside resort I would expect more seafood along the boardwalk, like clams, shrimp and crabs. But there is none (that we have found). They do have your typical food, pizza, ice cream, and boardwalk fries.
Plenty of rides for children and adults. There are several thrill type rides here as well. I have a son and he loves to go a play in the arcades. They are a Ripley's Believe It or Not house there and a few Haunted House rides also.
All in all, it is great for a day trip which I would recommend.
