We recently stayed at the Omni Hotel at the St. Paul Riverfront. This hotel is located very conveniently near many St. Paul attractions: Xcel Energy Center, Harriet Island, the Science Museum of Minnesota, the Children's Museum of Minnesota, the Minnesota History Center, and many others.
We were there over the 4th of July and wanted to experience the Taste of Minnesota at Harriet Island for the holiday. They were very accomodating to reserve us a room with a view of fireworks ahead of time and it was available for early check-in.
The parking ramp was connected the hotel but was very tight for our mini van. The ceilings were very low and it felt like we would scrape at any moment but we made it through just fine. The hotel lobby included a restaurant (that did not seem to be open at night), a coffee/snack counter, and a bar/lounge. There was a pool and hot tub on the second floor with towels available to use.
The room itself was outfitted with Sleep Number beds. This was of interest to me as I've always wanted to try one. They also included their signature "Sleep Kit" which included a sleep mask, ear plugs, relaxing CD, and lavender spray. The room had a Sony DreamMachine to play the CD on. I though they were nice little extras beyond the usual hotel toiletries.
This is no luxury hotel but it is certainly clean and comfortable and convenient if you are touring the St. Paul area. I felt it was worth the rate and it made for a memorable holiday.
