I have read my first Coffeehouse mystery. It is also the first of the series, titled On What Grounds by Cleo Coyle.

Clare Cosi is managing a coffeehouse by the name of The Village Blend in New York City. The owner is her ex-mother-in-law, who still has aspirations of getting her son and Clare back together again. Clare has a rent-free apartment above the Blend and enjoys her job very much. But when the assistant manager, Anabelle, is found dead at the bottom of a staircase at the Blend, Clare does not agree with the police when they rule it an accident. Anabelle was a dancer, very light on her feet and graceful. Clare does not see her clumsily falling down a flight of stairs. She thinks Anabelle was pushed, and she sets out to prove that she is right.

This paperback novel of 270 pages was an interesting book. It held my attention and I found myself liking the character of Clare Cosi very much. I will definitely be reading more in this coffeehouse series. Oh, and if you like coffee, you will be interested in reading the trivia about coffee and coffee beans that are scattered throughout the book. Definitely an entertaining book for me. There are even a few recipes in the back of the book.
