Once I was finally all settled into my new apartment and had spent about a week there I realized that I needed a lamp for my living room. There were no lights provided by the apartment in the living room, however there was a light in the adjacent kitchen, and in the dining room. Although even if I had one of these lights on, it didn't carry far enough into the room in the event I wanted to sit on my couch and read a book.
So I grabbed my purse and off I went on a trip to Ikea, one of my favorite new stores! I remembered from the last time I was there what a great selection on lighting they had so I figured if anywhere had a lamp for me it would be there.
After walking around the lighting department for about 20 minutes Ifinally decided on the Orgel table lamp. I thought it was very "streamline" looking and would blend in easily with the other decor I had in my living room. The light has a solid silver base and silver pole, along with a little silver chain to turn it off and on. The shade is a very light cream colored paper shade that is made of handmade paper. I thought this was very unique and looked very cool as it was "crinkled."
Also this lamp is compatible with an energy saving 20W bulb for all your green friendly people! I was told by the sales person that the brightness on the lamp depends on the wattage of the bulb you put in it. I believe I got a 11W bulb, compareable to a 30W regular bulb and it is bright enough for me to read a book by. However if I'm sitting on the opposite side of the couch from the lamp I don't think I could read as easily so if I want to do that I might have to get a higher wattage bulb. But for right now it's perfect for what I need it for. I had to assemble this lamp by myself but it was VERY easy and took me all of 5 minutes!
