When hubby had appendicitis in July of 2007 he underwent for an appendectomy. He got operated in The Medical City and his hospital bills reached Php80, 000.00++ but thank God because he had his health card to take care of everything. While in the hospital from day one until his discharge, he had this thermometer being used by nurses in monitoring his body temperature. This thermometer is digital and it gives a soft sound indicating that it is finish getting the body temperature. It is operated by a small button cell battery and what I liked best in this kind of thermometer is that it has no mercury which is kind of dangerous especially for household use thermometers and it has a crystal housing.
Upon discharge, we carried home this thermometer and this is the one we are using now for the whole family. I think it is accurate in getting the body temperature as long as the battery is in good shape. This one is best for the family as I had two kids who used to touch things that interest them or out of curiosity because this one is harmless.
