It's hard to write a review about a product you have in your home but don't actually use but I am going to give it a try.
Our home has 6 Kiddie 120v AC Wire-In smoke alarms model # i12040. This model has a 9 volt battery backup and alarm memory. The battery compartment is located on the front of the alarm and can be easily changed without having to take it down.
All the smoke alarms were installed by our builder prior to us moving in so I can not say how easy they were to install but according to the package this model smoke alarm has a quick connect wiring system that is not only easy to install the first time but it is also easy to switch out later if you choose to go with another model.
There are 2 features I really like about this unit. The first is the hush button. This can be pressed if the unit starts going off on it's own or for those times when you accidentally burn the toast. The other thing I like is that these units function alone or you can do what they did in my home and wire up to 24 of them together. This means if the alarm in my basement starts going off, all the other detectors in my home will start going off as well so if I was upstairs and could not hear the basement alarm, I would hear the one closest to me. Our house is 3 stories so I feel safe knowing that I won't miss an alarm going off on another floor.
This smoke alarm comes with a 5 year limited warranty.
Since we have lived in this house with the Kiddie smoke alarms, we have not had any of them go off for any reason. I hope to never actually have to put these units to the test for anything more than a false alarm or a burned dinner but I do feel good knowing they are there looking over us.
