So I consider myself an expert of workout videos not because I'm especially fit (not at all actually), but I own almost every workout DVD out there. That said, I have stuck with NONE of my previous workout DVD's, until I tried P90X. I read all of the reviews before I started and thought, 6 days a week, people can barely get through the excersizes, a strict diet, and thought...umm...NO.
Well a friend of mine lent me theirs and I AM SOLD. I've been about 15 pounds overweight and very out of shape. My muscles were beginning to hurt simply because I was so out of shape and anything I did resulted in pain or a pulled muscle. I started very slow with the workouts and sometimes I only completed half of the reps they did. I listened to my body to make sure I didn't hurt myself and now the workouts actually make my body feel great! I'm sore of course, but have not pulled any muscles and my lower back and knees have even started to feel better now. When I tried other workout DVD's I would end up hurting my knees and back so much that I would just quit and never go back. The trainer really encourages you to do what works for you and advises you not to focus too much on doing the exact number of reps they do at their exact speed either.
I've been on it for a week and have already lost 5 pounds and feel great. I usually loathe excersizing, but this has actually worked for me. I also do not follow the diet portion. I just try to watch what I eat and try to avoid fast food, but nothing crazy. Overall, I think P90X is a great workout even for a couch potato who hates to excersize and doesn't follow the diet. All you have to do is do the workouts everyday and it will help you with whatever your goal may be!
