If you are familiar with Pampered Chef then you know that they are famous for their baking stones. The most familiar one is the round pizza stone. The one that I am writing about is the rectangular lipped baking stone. It has a lip on it that makes it much better for baking deep-dish pizzas and other similar dishes. I love to make many different meals using this rectangular baking stone. You can also make dessert bars and other recipes including vegetable and fruit pizza without fear of it running over in your oven.
. Foods bake nice and evenly on these stones and have a beautiful even color to the pizzas and other dishes that you bake on them. It is hard to burn anything on them unless you completely forgot that you left them in the oven.
The downside on this baking ware is that it is cumbersome and heavy. It is also breakable and not easy to store. It like other baking stones is not overly attractive. The more you use the stones the more they darken in color. That is when you know that your stone is well seasoned. You can also season your stones with olive oil or bake oily foods on them. This will help them become stick-free.
Like the other stones you do not want to wash them with dish soap or in the dishwasher. They will retain the flavor of your dish-soap. You only need to wash with clear hot water as the bacteria from the baking is all killed in the oven.
