When I became a grown up, or so I said, my Mother dressed my kitchen with a set of Pfaltzgraff Garden Party dishes. Actually she bought me two sets so I would have place settings enough for 8 people.
The sets came with four each of dinner plates, salad plates, bowls, and coffee mugs. Having two sets has really come in handy on more than one occasion.
I love the Garden Party design. This design hit the market in 1991 and was Pfaltzgraff's first set to offer coordinating as opposed to matching pieces. When I received my sets I had to have more of it for serving and accessories to decorate my kitchen.
Pfaltzgraff is more than willing to oblige. They offer a full line of accessories that coordinate with your dining ware. My mother and I went shopping!
Now I have canisters, burner covers, a sugar bowl and creamer, candleholders, potholders, kitchen towels, serving bowls, and platters. Most of which were purchased over several years. The individual pieces all range in price from $10 to $30. The dinnerware 16 piece set can be found online now at Pfaltzgraff for $109, 32 pieces for $199, and 48 pieces for $279. I have no idea how much my mother paid for my original set.
I still have a few pieces to get. Unfortunately my mother can only shop with me in spirit now. However, thanks to my Mother, and our adventures to Pfaltzgraff, at every meal, in every way, I can think about her every day.
My plan is to carry on the Pfaltzgraff tradition with my girls when they venture out on their own.
