My friend and I went to the United States a couple of years ago for an event. We took the Philippine Airlines direct flight to San Francisco, which left around 10pm from Manila, Philippines and reached San Francisco around 6pm.
Among the airlines plying the Philippines-United States route, the Philippine Airlines flight is one of the most expensive. But we were thankful that even though we travelled on the first week of December, we got a good bargain. It was easy making a booking. The agent did not have much trouble asking for the free dates with the promo fare from the company. The agent was very accommodating, too. After leaving our phone numbers, the next call that we got we were just supposed to pick up our tickets.
I love traveling via Philippine Airlines. As usual, wherever they are, they give first class service to their clients. We took the economy class to the United States, but it is not at all cheap. The seats are comfortable and the linens are enough. In terms of leg room, well, it would not be much for a really big person, but since I am small in stature it was enough for me. At least, I got to relax for our 13-hour straight flight.
And although many people keep on complaining about airline meals, I loved the meals offered on board the Philippine Airlines flight to the United States. I think we had a couple of meals and 1 snack for the entire flight. They also had condiments for our meals. And the drinks are bottomless, too, with a lot of choices, wine (red and white), distilled water, juices, coffee or tea.
There is also an inflight magazine and we were informed of the movies coming out on the television. Duty free shopping was also available on board, although of course, since I am on a budget trip, no shopping for me.
If I can just afford them always, I would love to take Philippine Airlines in all my flights. Nothing beats their service among our local flights.
