The earbuds that come with iPods or other MP3 players are often lacking in both sound quality and comfort. Philips has stepped into fill the niche between bargain basement earbuds and more expensive options like Shure. The SHE9500 come with three sizes of soft rubber caps to provide both a comfortable fit and a snug, sound-enhancing seal. These earbuds are meant to be worn in the ear canal, and once they are properly seated, they stay in well, even during heavy activity. I used these earbuds while jogging and walking on treadmill and they stayed firmly in the ear. They are also comfortable for long periods of time.
The sound is full and rich with sparkiling eyes. The bass response is lacking somewhat, but only true audiophiles will notice such a minor shortcoming.
The cord is thin and feels fragile, but with normal care, the earbuds are suprisingly sturdy. A case is provided to keep the cable from getting tangled. After a year of ownership, these earbuds still sound great.
