The Philips Sonicare electric toothbrush is one of the best gifts I have ever received! For years I used a manual toothbrush and then the less expensive battery operated toothbrushes came out so I switched over to one of those. While the battery operated toothbrush was far better than the manual, I didn't know what a really clean mouth feels like until I started using the Philips Sonicare.

The package comes with the toothbrush base, one head, the charging base, uv sanitizer and a travel pouch.

One of the features I like best about this toothbrush is the different settings, there is Clean, which is the normal, hardest brush setting, Sensitive, which makes the bristles a little less stiff and it doesn't seem to oscelate quite as much and Massage, which moves the bristles in a massaging motion to make your gums feel happy! I want to add here that I have pretty sensitve teeth and gums and the clean setting works fine for me, the bristles never seem too hard (I always used extra soft manual brushes) and I think my gums are actually healthier since I've been using this brush.

It also has two different timed settings to choose from. Go Care, which will keep the brush on for 1-minute if you are in a hurry and need a quick clean and Max Care, which will keep the brush on for 3 -minutes for a thorough cleaning. If you just turn the brush on and don't choose one of those settings it will stay on for two minutes, which is the recommended brushing time. You can of course turn the brush off at any time you choose but it will go off at those pre-set times if you allow it to run it's whole course. i find it easier to brush for the right amount of time with this toothbrush since it just does the work for me and turns off when the time is up.

As far as the UV sanitizer goes, it supposedly uses an ultra violet light to clean your brush heads. It holds two at a time and you can also store them in there if you like. Does it work? I can't really say since I don't have a microscope to detect the germ levels before and after but I use it whenever I charge the toothbrush. It's supposed to kill 99% of germs, I hope their aren't a whole lot of germs on my toothbrush but can't hurt to use it I suppose.

The toothbrush holds a charge like you wouldn't believe. There is no outlet in our bathroom so I don't leave it on the base to charge at all times. I only charge it when the battery is getting low, which takes forever to get to that level. Even when it is on the orange light on the battery bar it never slows down or feels less powerful than when it's on a full charge. I haven't ever let it actually die out but I've used it for about a week or so on the lowest battery light and it was still going strong.

Another great thing about this toothbrush is that I think it's even made my teeth whiter, I'll take that any day!

So overall I have to say this is the best toothbrush I've ever owned. It's pricey but it was given to me. If I had gotten it myself I would have chosen the one without the UV sanitizer to save some money but I think it will last for a really long time so it would be a good investment in your dental health.
