I have found that most standard incandescent bulbs which go into lamps or light fixtures produce and dingy, dull, yellow light. Trying to read or do work in that kind of light can be hard on your eyes. After seeing an article about full-spectrum lighting, I decided it was something I needed to improve the quality of light in my home. You can recognize full-spectrum bulbs in stores by a light purple colored coating on the outside of the bulbs. After installing them and turning them on, I noticed a big difference in the color of the light. It was much whiter, and everything appeared brighter, even though I didn't increase the wattage I was using at all. However, they are not any more electricity efficient that the bulbs I was previously using, because they are still standard incandescent and not compact flourescent. I find that these bulbs make reading a lot easier, and I never feel like I am straining my eyes. These bulbs are a must for your home because they will make the place look a lot more alive and it will be healthier for your eyes.
