The Pilot G2 Gel Pen is my favorite pen, and I like a bold line. The new Bold Point-10 looked great. But I can’t see any real difference between the 10 and the 07 width.
Pilot now claims on their package that the G2 Gel Pen is now America’s number one selling pen. I know that I like it best. I recently lost one and when I replaced it I saw the “New Bold Point” claim on a package. The width is 10, which means that the tip is 1 mm wide. (Thus 07 is 0.7 mm, etc.). Since I like a bold line I immediately purchased it.
With magnification I could see that the tip of the pen is wider, but at first I couldn’t really see much difference in the actual line produced (see picture). Now that I’ve used the pen for a few days the tip may have loosened up, or whatever gel pens need to do to make the ink flow, because I can now feel that the 10 is wider than the 07. It feels good to write with, for those of us who like a wider tip. However, it also seems to be more likely to make little blobs at the ends of words.
I think I’ll go back to the 07 next time I need refills, because I don’t like blobby writing, even though I like the feel of the tip.
The Pilot G2 pens in general come in 3 widths, 05- Extra fine, 07- fine, and now 10-bold. The pens all write very smoothly, and have a nice cushioned grip. They are retractable, and you can buy refills, so you don’t have to keep buying new pen bodies. You can find black, blue, red, and green most anywhere, but you may have to hunt or order on line to get the metallics or some of the other colors they offer. See Pilot Pens
