I love the Pirates movies. This one was very complicated and you really had to pay attention to it. In fact, the first time I watched it, there was a lot I did not understand. The second time I watched it, I understood much better, but still had some unanswered questions.

The beginning is a little too gruesome for little ones, but the movie is PG 13. People are lined up and being hanged for being pirates or associating with pirates. The people start to sing the song and this is important because when the song is song, the Bretheren Court of Pirates must meet. Will wants to release his father from The Flying Dutchman, but he needs Jack Sparrow. The crew go to release Captain Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones' Locker. Balboa wants Jack because Jack has one of the 9 pieces of 8, which is needed at the Bretheren Court.

I liked this movie because it is so adventurous. From the very beginning it is action packed. There are so many things going on, you really need to pay attention and even watch the movie several times. It is a movie that you think about after seeing and talk about.

I really did not like the scenes with Captain Jack, where there were multiple Captain Jacks. I didn't think it was necessary and detracted from the movie. I think they were showing he was losing his mind, but he really was not - especially at the end. I thought the marriage proposal was very corny and out of place. I also did not completely understand the whole Calypso thing at the end. I felt they overdid the Parlay joke, too.

All in all, it is a great movie. If you didn't like it the first time - try it again. Watch Pirates 1, 2 and then 3. It will all come together.

I bought the basic DVD. There were some bloopers on it, but they were not that funny.
