My mom and I are both diabetics, and the care of our feet is very important. We've noticed that almost all socks are really tight around the ankles. We have tried everything under the sun in order to find comfortable socks--(including resorting to buying men's socks.) But nothing has provided a solution to the tightness around the ankles.
Even the diabetic socks often had very tight elastic. Then one day, I was shopping at Target, and saw the usual MediPeds Diabetic Socks, but this time they were a different style. They looked comfortably wide at the ankle, and I gave them the old stretch test, and sure enough, they actually stretched really well! My mom and I both got a pair, and we just love them. We were pleased to see that Walmart also carries them, and we got several more pairs there. The loose fit is just what we had been searching for! Be warned that there are many different styles of the MediPeds socks, and the only one I've seen that had this much stretch around the ankle is called "Turn Cuff."
Even if you're not a diabetic, but you're tired of your ankles being choked like a hangman's noose, you'll enjoy wearing these socks. They stay up well, but they don't leave marks. I think these socks would be a welcome solution for all ladies.
Our Walmart only had black, white, and navy colors, but they do come in small, medium, and large sizes. There is a note on the label that they run large, so keep that in mind when choosing your size. My mom and I settled on medium, and they were perfect! I liked them so much, that I purchased 5 more pairs. I will probably throw out the rest of my socks, and just buy these from now on.
Other features are smooth toe seams that prevent irritation, and a Coolmax material (67% polyester, and 33% nylon) that pulls moisture away from the feet, and helps to keep the skin dry.
So if you're tired of being squeezed around the ankles, stop by Walmart or Target, and get a pair of these wonderful socks. Your feet will thank you for it everyday!
