I bought this DVD, "Vacancy", because I'm a fan of horror / suspense / thriller movies. Besides, Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson are here. I'm a fan of Kate and Luke, in fact. Let me move on to the story. This movie told a story of a young couple, David Fox, and his wife Amy, who just have to stay in a remote motel because they have a car breakdown. They occupy a room with a TV and the TV broadcast some horror scenes which they later realize that those brutal scenes were taken in their room they occupy with hidden cameras. Since then, they try all the ways to get out from that room and find themselves chased by those brutal psycho murderers. Will they survive?
The plot is simple, actually. But why do I feel that this is a like a cheap movie production? I don't know, maybe because it's mostly filmed in one setting (or two, with the highway) which is the room / the motel. And the bad guys and the ways they slaughtered their victims, oh, why did they make laugh? I'm sorry, I'm not trying to discredit this movie, but that's just what I feel. In some scenes, I think the couples could have survived since I saw some opportunities for them to get out. Blame it on the scenario? Maybe. The performance of the couples (Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson) are good, though not as great as their performances in other movies.
Overall, I can't see why this movie should be on the top list movies. All I want to say is, I'm disappointed with it. I definitely don't recommend this movie.
