I have been a Progressive customer for about five years and am very pleased with their service. When I first switched to Progressive, I was impressed that I could save more than $500 per year over what my previous auto insurance had cost me.

Progressive offers a lot of discounts for things including: multiple policies, home insurance, and loyal customer. We also have a reduced rate because of where we live (in the country) and because I have a PhD. Having an advanced degree discount surprised me, so you have to make sure to ask for all the discounts you may qualify for.

As far as their claims service goes, it is very impressive. Two years ago my husband hit a deer and did quite a bit of damage to the front of his truck. We made a call to Progressive and within hours there was a claims agent in our driveway with a check to cover the damaged. Better yet, our rates did not increase because we were considered 'safe drivers.'

Progressive offers a billing option that can save you additional money if you pay your premium in full every six months (vs. the montly option) and an even bigger discount if you sign up for electronic funds transfer.

Although we do not have a pet, I have heard that Progressive also offers pet insurance to cover expenses dealing with the injury of a pet in the car during an accident.

Overall, I would highly recommend calling Progressive for a quote. Chances are they can save you quite a bit of money, and they are a good company to work with.
