A dictionary book is very helpful for kids to understand words they encounter to further understand what they are reading. My daughter is already a Grade 3 students and she encounters words not familiar to her. This dictionary book helps her understand words and even on her spelling skills. I encourage her to read but reading with comprehension.
I bought her this Merriam-Webster's Dictionary and Thesaurus as reference for her reading and spelling comprehension. The book is based on Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary with integrated language tools: synonym lists and dictionary entries combined alphabetically, clear and concise word guidance and abundant usage examples. Every word is presented with centered dots which indicate division points at which a hypen maybe put at the end of a line of print or writing. While a pair of reversed slashes found after every word indicates the pronunciation. This book contains nearly 60, 000 entries which covers most frequently used words in the language and more than 13, 000 thesaurus entries.
I know with the above-mentioned content of this book my daughter will be properly guided on words based on spelling, pronunciation, meaning, uses and more. She is doing well on her Reading and Language subjects and this book will certainly help her to be better.
