This remote is handy tool that every PS2 user should have. It makes it very easy to use the PS2 as a DVD player. You can even turn the PS2 on/off with it. If you have the 5000 series PS2, you can even eject the disc from the remote. The power button only works on the 5000 series PS2 or the slim one.

I got mine on eBay a while back for about $12. I love it. I can turn my PS2 on from anywhere in the room. The remote is the perfect size, and it fits nicely into your hand. While there are tons of buttons to sort through, they are arranged in a pretty easy-to-find fashion. All of the DVD buttons are at the top, and all of the standard control buttons are at the bottom. The remote has all of the buttons a standard PS2 controller has, including x, circle, square, triangle, R1, R2, R3, etc. Of course you wouldn’t usually play a game using the remote, but it’s nice to have the buttons on there.

When watching DVDs, the remote works perfectly. It does just what you want. There’s a button for everything you could need. There’s play, pause, stop, scene search, fast forward, fast rewind, slow motion, subtitles, A-B, etc. Pretty much everything that is accessible in the on-screen DVD menu by pressing 'Select' has a button on the remote.

Stay away from 3rd party PS2 remotes. I tried one first, and hated it. It just didn’t do what I wanted, didn’t have a long range, etc. I got this one and was blown away. It’d made by Sony, so it works perfectly with the PS2.
