As we all know Halloween is comming up in less than a week. This is one of my favorite holidays because I love to carve pumpkins, decorate, and see all the different costumes.
M favorite thing to do for Halloween is carve pumpkins. Not just because of of the pumkin seeds, but just because this is on of three times a year that I use my creative side (Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas).
I had the chance to sit down tonight with my nephew and carve pumkins. To do this, I bought a pumkin carving kit called The Ultimate Pumkin Carving Kit made by Home Logic. I found this to be extremly easy to use even my 5 year old nephew was able to help me hold the small knife while I helped him cut.
The kit comes with two knives (One with smaller teeth and the other with larger teeth), one scooper, and the book which has 14 different patterns from bats, ghosts, whitches, haunted houses, and other popular Halloween scenes.
Simply cut the top of your pumpkin
Clean it out
Rip out the pattern of your choice
Tape to the pumkim. (You may have to fold the paper in different places around the pumkin... but it works)
Tear out the cutouts
Trace the pattern with the black marker they provide
Carve the pattern
Put a candle in it to see the pumpkin
The only downs side of this carving set is that they don't make the handles on the knives long enough. I found my hand was cramping a lot, but I was still able to carve my pumkin.
