If you have a dog, then you're probably no stranger to dog treats. We've tried several different types with our dogs, but we keep coming back to one. The treats that our dogs seem to prefer are Pup-peroni Original Beef Flavor treats.
We use them for everything, including teaching the dogs to do tricks, rewarding them for good behavior, disguising their medications, or even breaking them up to add a little extra flavor to their food.
I'm not certain about how healthy or unhealthy they are for your dog, but from my observation, I would have to asssume that they contain a fair amount of salt. I'm basing this on an experience we had where we came home from work to discover that one of the dogs found the treats on the counter and consumed nearly an entire bag's worth of these treats. At first we weren't sure which dog was responsible, but in a few moments it became quite clear. We filled both of the dogs' water bowls, and one of them proceeded to drink about three full bowls of water at one sitting. We assumed that he was the guilty one, and that he was probably feeling the consequences of eating a little too much salt all at once. After a couple of more bowls of water, several trips outside, and one accident inside the house, everything went back to normal.
Aside from that one incident, we've never had any bad experiences with these treats. If we want our dogs to do anything, these are the first treats that we'll reach for.
