A cousin gave me this Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX about a year and a half ago and it has really been useful for me. Before I got this webcam, I was relying solely on text instant messaging to communicate online with my friends (I didn't have a headset at the time), which is fine, but it's not as easy to express yourself. Things you say may get interpreted differently since you can't speak with a particular tone of voice. When I got this webcam, online communicating became a whole lot easier and much more enjoyable since I am able to talk to people as though I am standing right next to them.
Now to talk about the features that set this webcam apart from others. This webcam comes with its own built in microphone, saving you the hassle of having to purchase a headset. It's better than using a headset anyway because you can hear out of your speakers, allowing you to walk around and still talk to your friends without being plugged to the computer. The microphone quality is also quite remarkable. It is so sensitive that it can pick up the sound of a dog barking a block away. If that's not good enough for you, the QuickCam program that comes with the webcam allows you to add some funny video effects, which you can use to fool around with your friends. You can also record small clips of yourself with the QuickCam program, a feature that is useful for making video blogs on Youtube. If privacy is a concern to you, or if you think your friends are going to call you in the middle of the night, you'll probably like the privacy shade on the webcam that you can open and close as you wish. The base of the webcam is flexible, so if it doesn't fit on your monitor, or if you're like me and have a weird desk setup, you'll be able to adjust it as needed. If you don't have a webcam or have a very poor one, then I would recommend getting this. You will not be disappointed.
