I bought this Radio Flyer Excursion Wagon for my 16-month old daughter for Christmas, and it quickly became her favorite toy on Christmas morning. She actually refused to leave the wagon after seeing it and opened the remainder of her presents from her seat in the wagon!
I researched and looked at many versions of wagons before deciding on this model, and I believe I absolutely made the right choice. This wagon is large enough to grow with our daughter and easily fit a friend for shared rides. The fold up/down seats give flexibility and the seat belts mean that I can feel she is safe even when going for walks down the streets in our hilly neighborhood. The Excursion model by Radio Flyer has several nice "extra" features, such as cup holders and a small storage compartment on the back that adds to its useability. Most of the newer models of Radio Flyer wagons are plastic, rather than the metal wagons we grew up with, but this does not make them any less sturdy. The plastic used is thick and solid, and is probably safer than metal for little ones anyways.
Our friends have a similar wagon of a different model that we have used before and I noticed that the steering was terrible, as the handle is fixed to the front axle and the wheels only turn together with that axle. This wagon has an improved set-up that allows the wheels to rotate similar to those on the front of a grocery shopping cart. This makes a huge difference, especially when turning with 2 kids in the wagon and a decent amount of weight.
My only complaint is I wish there was a door that opened on one side, to allow little ones to get in and out easier and safer. My daughter has a tendency to flip over the side if we are not careful when she is trying to get out. It's a minor issue since we are always nearby when she is playing with the wagon, but still would be a nice improvement. I'm also considering buying the add-on canopy for those hot sunny days in Texas.
Overall, this is a wonderful purchase that we will be using for a long time.
