The Radisson Resort at the Port is located at 8701 Astronaut Blvd., in Cape Canaveral, Florida. I stayed at this resort in September 2007 and September 2008 and both times have been very pleased.
We live in North Georgia and are about 8 hours from Port Canaveral. When we take a cruise out of that port, we like to drive down the day before our trip, rest up for the night and get to the ship by mid morning. The Radisson is located less than 2 miles from the port and offers free cruise parking and free transportation to the port included in the price of your room. Both times I have stayed there the price of the room was $99.00 per night. The cost to park your car at the pier is aprox. $14.00 per day so when you subtract the price parking would have been from the cost of the room, it's a great deal.
The resort is not huge but it is very pretty and well kept. The rooms I stayed in both featured Sleep Number beds. My only complaint with them is that the beds are only doubles so 2 adults sharing one sleep really close and with the hard edge around the sides of the sleep number beds, it was not as comfortable as I would have liked it to be.The grounds of the resort are very lush and have walkways and Koi ponds and the pool area is amazing with huge rocks and waterfalls. They have a pretty restaurant with windows facing the pool area but I can not tell you how the food was since I did not eat there. There is also a Tiki bar in the pool area that had live music one of the times I was there. Other things available on the property that I did not try were a workout room, tennis courts and a convention center.
Both times I stayed there I used the online check in prior to my arrival. When I got to the resort, I went in, told them my name and my paperwork was there and ready for me all I had to do was show my ID and sign a form. Their shuttle service to the pier is very well run and organized as well. You can call in advance to get your name on the list or sign up for it when you arrive. Shuttles leave the resort I believe on the half hour. You first park your car in their cruise parking lot, gather your luggage and meet in the lobby. The driver then calls names off the list a few at a time so there is not a mad rush. The shuttle buses have little closed cargo trailers they pull behind the bus where they put all the luggage that is going to be checked in. When they arrive at the port, the porters then unload the luggage from the trailer to send it to the ship while you just head into the terminal to check in. On your return back to the port, you meet the shuttle in the designated spot, they reload the luggage and bring you back to the cruise parking lot at the resort.
The next time I sail on a cruise that leaves out of Port Canaveral I will definitely be booking another room at the Radisson Resort at the Port.
