This is the brand new installment in the popular Ratchet & Clank video game series and is the conclusion of the Future trilogy. This series of games is a favorite of both my 8 year old son and my 40 something year old ex-husband who tease each other about the games all the time. I am writing this review at the request of my son who says this is the best Ratchet & Clank yet.
This game was released in October 2009 and is only available for the Playstation 3. It has a rating of E 10+. We preordered the game from GameStop which qualified us to get the Discovery Package which is a GameStop exclusive. The Discovery Package gives you a code that allows you to play on a special level of the game and visit the planet Insomniac Moon.
The game contains new weapons, enemies and a new arena to fight in. The game picks up where the last game The Quest For Booty ended with the main character Ratchet looking for his pal Clank. Ratchets arch enemy Dr. Nefarious returns and he is searching for the Great Clock. This game allows you to play as either Ratchet or as Clank. My son loves all the new additions and in his words they are "cool".
He played the game for about 3 days when he made it to the end. He has now restarted the game and he was able to choose to restart it and keep all the weapons, armour and health he earned in the first go round. This allows him to experience new things that he missed the first time around. I asked him to rate the game on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best and he said "it's a 10 all the way!".
Update On Nov 09, 2009: My ex-husband was her helping my son find some stuff in the game he had missed and my son told him that I wrote a review of it. He then told me that I should add from an adults point of view the game is very good but it is way too short and he completed it in only a few hours.
